That's because they were in Italy! Something Dave has to point out to people all the time, so, you're not the first to make that mistake!
Looking good Dave!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Cheers .Me and John have been toying around looking for a good impression of a armoured crew in Italy late 1943 end of 1944.Wasn't happy at all with my kit last year looking back at photos.Feldgendarmrie..Grenadiers..Medic and Officer all look fantastic, so i thought the armoured crew needs a bit of a kick up the arse.

Here we are all ready for the Loop, sporting our answers to the teeth protection and CQB problem - snoods.
EDIT - Sorry, no idea why there's two pictures, exactly the same, both of me.
Marvellous!

Very nice indeed.
Very nice, I love the SVT14!
Here was my first (and current) attempt at a late-war Heer Sniper loadout. I got the camo smock and trousers from Spearhead. I've still not got a tunic and trousers yet, but they're next on my list.
I'm planning a Gebirgsjager loadout next and have already ordered some of the items for that.
I know my current loadout is far from correct, but I wanted practicality above all, whilst still trying to look the part, hence using an M14 (as a make-do G43), plus the M14 mags fit in my G43 pouches.
The first sets of indoor pics were self-taken in my fiancee's dressingroom, hence the lovely paint scheme :

Not a bad first attempt at all. I'd recommend getting a collared shirt to wear under the smock as it looks a bit odd with a T-shirt. A Brit GS shirt is the cheapest option but repro German ones aren't too expensive.
Otherwise get out and get it mucky; maybe slap some mud on the belt buckle & helmet to cut down the shine and get some inner tube to put some foliage in.
Yes, a good start. I'd agree with Lardy - a shirt or tunic should be your next item. And after that, you'll soon find plenty of field kit to spend your money on!

Very nice Barry and Anne, good way to get further use out of those M14s, I actually double took them at first!
Pics of my Heer winter impression for the Battle of the Bulge game at the Hill, Dundee, on Sunday 18th. Luckily still snow on the ground!

Beastor, get the beard back, you look dangerously like Chris Moyles, and you KNOW that will attract incoming fire!! A LOT of incoming fire!!
It is getting quite scary how many people keep mentioning the resemblance....
